It's Official...

The next season of Battlestar, beginning with the two-hour episode Razor in November and continuing in early 2008, will be its last. Here's to going out with a bang and on their own terms.

Boomer, Jammer and Lana Lang

I kid you not. All three starred on the Canadian teen soap Edgemont, which is far inferior to Degrassi, but boasts an impressive cast that also includes Eric from Wonderfalls and George's crazy nympho co-worker from Dead Like Me. I love that everything that shoots in Vancouver uses the same actors over and over again. It gives me a strange sense of peace.

Here's what I can tell from the couple of episodes I've watched on Youtube and cable: Boomer's gay, Jammer's the main character despite being kind of a douche and Lana's boring and still has that weird affected accent that definitely has no place in Kansas and probably not Vancouver either. Okay, I’m going to go watch an episode now. Jammer’s little brother’s missing and he hasn’t bothered to tell his parents yet. Drama!

Battlestar Galactica viewing update: Done!

BIG FRAKKING SPOILER ALERT

I've scooped my brain back into my head and I'm slowly regaining the ability to think about things other the final five (now down to possibly one) and whether Starbuck's real or just in Apollo's head the way Six and Baltar are in one another’s.

Everyone's right: the show is fan-frakking-tastic (yeah, I'm gonna use "frak," deal with it). Remember when Starbuck bugged me? Yeah, me neither. Love her. Love the hair, love the tats, love that she's a complete dude. Off shoot of my Starbuck love: Sam. Love! And you know what? Tory and Seelix need to step the frak off.

You know who I wanna be when I grow up? President Laura Roslin. Sometimes she makes horrible calls: "Let's pretend Hera's dead," "Biological weapons? Don't mind if I do!" but she's such a bad ass! Ooh... except I don't really wanna have terminal cancer or all those weird visions. They seem like a drag. Also a drag, being betrayed on the stand my Lee for the sake of justice. I agreed with his rationale, but when she quietly reminded him of the trust they once shared, Mary McDonnell plucked out my heart and slammed it to the ground. Then she took her sensible shoes and stomped the life out of it with the declaration that she's not a druggie, bitch; her cancer's back.

In addition to the cylon-mindfrak, you know what caught me off guard? The realization that Billy is Will from Nobody's Watching. Who frakking knew?

Okay, that was one too many fraks. I'll stop...

Battlestar Galactica viewing update: Hey, it's that guy!

So I'm watching the second fantastic season of Battlestar, and I'm like "Hey, professional pyramid player dude, you're kind of cute." And then I'm struck with a sense of paralyzing humiliation when I realize who he is, and that I just called Nathan's uncle Cooper cute. Ew! He almost died in a stupid limo accident as an indirect result of having sex with a crazy high school girl.

Being on those two shows simultaneously must have been mind-blowing. One week you're shooting Battlestar, which is arguably one of the best shows in recent history. And the next you're shooting One Tree Hill, which is One Tree Hill.

What I'm Watching: Battlestar Galactica on DVD

Battlestar consistently appears on Top 10 TV lists. I don’t love sci-fi, but I do love good TV and if I learned anything from Firefly, it's that I can get over the whole space thing. I also learned that Nathan Fillion is super pretty, but that's neither here nor there (honestly, it's everywhere).

So I borrowed the miniseries and first season DVDs from a friend and so far I'm pretty hooked. Also, you know who I totally want to get together? Apollo and Madam Prez. Am I the only one? I'm trying to avoid reading anything about the show on the internet since while just looking for this picture, I accidentally came across three fairly significant spoilers. Damn my curiosity.

Here's where I am so far: Starbuck kinda bugs me, I have a big fat crush on Chief Petty Officer Galen Tyrol and I'm very intrigued by the cylons (even if Number Six has crappy taste in men).
